Ceol Irish Pub is officially turning ten years old, and we'd love for you to join in the festivities! Friends of the pub will celebrate starting April 1st and continue through the entire month for Ceol Irish Pubs "Aged 10 years" anniversary. A special celebration will be held on Saturday, April 15th, 2017.

Ceol Irish Pub has officially “Aged 10 years”. The Irish Pub will celebrate throughout the month of April and hold a special event on Saturday, April 15th,; with $4 Guinness and Jameson shots; live Music by Neil O’Kane, Sean McGuinness and Keith Shannon; along with Irish dancers starting at 7p.m.

Ceol Irish Pub, established in April 2007, filled a niche lacking in Reno at the time. Owners Ron & Sara McCarty along with their early partners set out to open the pub in early 2006. A non-smoking, non-gaming, live music venue and social meeting house just like those in Ireland. After navigating a few zoning issues the Pub opened in April of 2017. The McCarty’s have never looked back.

It's very much a 'local pub' in a downtown environment that caters to a vast demographic. Ceol is an Irish Pub in every sense. Everyone is welcome, young and old alike. I'm incredibly proud of our family of staff and their ability to create such an inclusive environment. Our craft is great hospitality in a fun friendly setting.

Ron McCarty, Owner

It's been nearly a decade since Ron McCarty, and his wife Sara began operation on the South side of the historical Hale Building at 538 S. Virginia St. in Downtown Reno and transformed the space from what was once a series of retail stores into the popular neighborhood establishment of Ceol Irish Pub.

Ceol is the Gaelic word for music. The pub provides an authentic atmosphere to enjoy the traditions of the Emerald Isle. Along with the original exposed brick, live music weekly, and an extensive whiskey selection, Ceol Irish Pub is the only location in town to offer Magner’s Irish Cider, a certified Guinness pour, and the best Irish Coffee in Nevada.

"We're holding a casual celebration for friends from the past and present to celebrate a fantastic milestone with us," says Ron McCarty, owner.

McCarty says he is most proud of the bar's diverse appeal and its longtime family of supporters.

"It's very much a 'local pub’ in a downtown environment that caters to a vast demographic. Ceol is an Irish Pub in every sense. Everyone is welcome, young and old alike. I'm incredibly proud of our family of staff and their ability to create such an inclusive environment. Our craft is great hospitality in a fun friendly setting."

The building was built in 1946 as a modest brick commercial building next door to the fire station at California Avenue, Edward F. Hale bought the building when the war ended.  Realizing the pent-up demand for new household appliances it spurred Hale to open a retail store in Reno, and the double occupancy building allowed him to earn money from an additional tenant on
the north side.

Ceol Irish Pub is anchored on the high-traffic corner on the edge of California Avenue and Virginia Street, located between MidTown and the Riverwalk District. Ceol is Reno’s favorite neighborhood pub, a true meeting place.

"The proximity of the space along with our staff's consistent fast and friendly customer service has been a great mix for us." Says Ron McCarty.

When you step inside Ceol Irish Pub, you can get a little taste of Ireland. Thursday’s Ceol hosts the area’s longest running Pub Quiz night. Tune-in on Tuesday’s from 7 p.m. – 10 p.m. for live traditional Irish music sessions and enjoy a daily happy hour 3 p.m.-7 p.m. serving cold $3 Premium Pints, Well Drinks, and House Wines.

As the famous Irish author George Moore once wrote; “A man travels the world over in search of what he most desires only to return home to find it”

Ceol is home to many of Renos own. “Welcome home!”
